This site is designed to be accessible to all Web browsers, but it definitely looks better in those browsers that support standards.

I've been wanting to redo this site for a long, long time, mostly so I could have a place to write. While I'm a bit divided about how publicly personal I want to get, I'm hoping that this site will help me figure that out.

Here are some very old writings that I used long ago for examples in my books. I rather like them. They are the epitome of off-the-cuff writing, but somehow they captured what I wanted them to capture.

And way back when I was researching frames, I created a set of pages about learning Catalan that continue to get more hits than the rest of my entire site put together. While you may find them more or less useful, I also recommend checking out the Generalitat's much more complete course.

I'm a bit uncomfortable talking a lot about myself on the Web, but if you're really curious about me, you can read an interview I did with Amazon a while back.

Finally, if you'd like to see what I do professionally, please visit my books' sites. I've recently published the 5th edition of my bestselling HTML book, the second edition of my Perl and CGI primer has garned many positive reviews, and my XML guide has also been very popular.
